Q: What makes Triad different from other builders?

A: First and foremost, we like to think of ourselves as being in the business of creating incredible lifelong memories. Building beautiful custom homes is our way of accomplishing this goal. Additionally, we are uniquely committed to providing a seamless, stress-free client experience from start to finish, no matter the scale of the project. Integrity, transparency, and prompt communication are our most-cherished values, and we take seriously our promise to clients that they will be completely informed at every stage of the building process. Last but not least, Triad is a fixed-price and fixed-duration builder, which is a rarity in our marketplace. Over the course of our 20+ years in business we’ve developed quality-control processes that ensure every house we build comes in on time and on budget.

Q: How much homebuilding experience do you have?

A: Triad president David Parks has built over 115 custom homes since founding the company in 2000.

Q: How do you maintain quality control?

A: After building 115+ houses we’ve pretty much seen it all, so we never need to reinvent the wheel. But in addition to our proprietary pricing software that gives us an accurate and immediate overview of a project’s cost, we’ve developed a number of tools and strategies to ensure every home we work on is built to the highest standards of quality. Arguably the most important one is our pre-phase planning process. Roughly two weeks before a phase of construction begins, our team reviews a detailed checklist that has been internally developed and refined over the years. This ensures that everyone involved has the information, materials, and tools required to complete the phase to its defined specifications. Once the construction phase is complete, we go through additional quality-control checklists to ensure, one final time, that the home meets the project specifications and Triad standards. We like to think of these checklists as a “second blueprint” because—like regular blueprints—they provide a must-follow set of instructions for how a home should be built.

Q: What if I can’t find a stock plan that’s exactly what I want? Can you develop blueprints in-house?

A: Many of the plans we’ve used for earlier projects can be used again, with proper permission from their architect or owner. So if a client finds that they love an existing home we’ve built and would like to base their own home on its design, it’s unlikely there’d be a problem. That said, once we begin the process of discussing a client’s unique needs—and, rest assured, every client is unique!—they often decide they’d be best served consulting with a design professional. If this is the case, we put them in touch with one of the experienced professionals in our network, whether it’s a draftsperson or a full-service architect. In short, we are available and excited to help clients find solutions at any and every stage of their design journey.

Q: What areas of Western North Carolina do you build in?

A: (From east to west:) Brevard, Lake Toxaway, Sapphire, Cashiers, and Lake Glenville.

Q: How’s your communication?

A: We sincerely believe that when it comes to homebuilding, candid and frequent communication is the key to avoiding unwanted issues and keeping all parties happy. We pride ourselves on our level of responsiveness, and, as a result, we’ve structured our operations to ensure that clients’ needs are always taken care of—no excuses. If you work with us, you can expect steady communication from start to finish, whether it takes the form of phone calls, video conferences, emails, text messages—or even faxes, if that’s your thing.

Q: How are your subcontractors?

A: We believe we are only as good as the subcontractors we employ. As such, we consider all of our subs to be an extension of the Triad family. Having been in business for 20+ years, we have well-established relationships with some of the best subs in the Western North Carolina region. We have a tight-knit roster of expert craftspeople who we rotate in and out depending on project needs and availability. Everyone we work with is deeply experienced in their field and has proven that they can meet our non-negotiable standards of quality.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?

A:  It’s hard to beat the sense of satisfaction we get from giving families the keys to their brand-new home, since we know it will be a place for all generations to gather and enjoy life for many years to come. Not only that, but many of our former clients have become good friends who we are in touch with to this day.
